Aunt Annie Grace was born 7 of 10 siblings to Mr. Willie & Mrs. Fannie Young. She loved her family which was evident by the special bonds she shared that made her a “favorite” to most. Aunt Annie Grace was blessed with a compassionate spirit that spanned her entire family and extended families as well. It was a joy to watch her “cut up” with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sisters, brothers, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Aunt Grace was a published poetic author as well.
Nobody could tell a story like Aunt Annie Grace, she was always making a story come to life even though you were not physically there to experience the event or know the person. Aunt Grace taught herself to play keyboard and piano. She could sang (not sing but sang), she sang at church and all the family gatherings. She loved sing and dancing when my dad (Wendell Young) would play the guitar. Aunt Grace also loved to cook; we would sit around the table to eat and listen to her “cut up” and we’d all laugh ourselves silly. She found delight in watching you eat and laugh. Whenever you visited her, you were sure to leave with a satisfied appetite.
Aunt Annie Grace was simply a ray of sunshine to everyone she encountered. She loved and embraced life, and no matter the circumstances, always had an infectious smile that showed off her sexy dimples. Her nickname was “Tuffy” which fit her character well. Aunt Annie Grace had 8 children, 10 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren.
